There’s something magical about a simple beach day. No grand plans, no complicated logistics—just sand, sandwiches, and sunshine. That’s exactly what God gave us today.
We spent the afternoon with friends, and it was everything I didn’t know I needed. I had some much-needed grown-up conversation with another parent (the kind that fills your cup), while the kids built castles, caught minnows, and turned splash fights into Olympic events. Anderson was the reigning champion of beach battles, while Lucy and her friend worked together like professional minnow wranglers.
It was all so easy, so full of joy, and such a beautiful reminder that connection doesn’t have to be complicated. I hope you and your family get to soak in a day like this before summer slips away—a day that reminds you to slow down, dig your toes in the sand, and be fully present in the sweetness of it all.

As a former teacher, wildlife rehabilitator, Realtor, and dog trainer turned full-time mom, I’ve walked an unexpected and beautiful path that led me to home education and a deeper faith.

My daughter, Lucy, is the light of my life—and the inspiration behind this blog.
Her name literally means “light,” and I believe that every child carries their own unique glow. I don’t believe she’s “gifted”—I believe she’s growing and glowing because she’s loved, encouraged, and supported.
And I believe your child can thrive in the same way.

I know what it’s like to struggle with learning.
I grew up with dyslexia, diagnosed in second grade, and for years I felt like I just couldn’t measure up.
But through grit, grace, and one remarkable professor who finally saw me—I not only overcame it, but became a passionate educator.
Now I use that experience to help guide my daughter, and hopefully, other parents too.
