If you’ve never met Geronimo Stilton, you’re missing out on one of the funniest, most creative, and wildly entertaining children’s book series out there. These stories follow Geronimo—a mouse who works as a journalist and often finds himself solving mysteries and getting into hilarious situations.
Not only are the books brimming with humor (Lucy’s current favorite exclamation, straight from the pages, is “Holy cheese nibblits!”), but they also give kids wonderful early detective and gumshoe skills—spotting clues, following hunches, and piecing together mysteries.
The series is designed for grades 2–5 (ages 7–10), but I think they make fantastic read-aloud books for younger kids, too. In fact, even if your child isn’t quite reading independently yet, the colorful fonts, playful layouts, and lively illustrations make the stories feel like a full-on adventure you get to share together.

I know what it’s like to struggle with learning.
I grew up with dyslexia, diagnosed in second grade, and for years I felt like I just couldn’t measure up.
But through grit, grace, and one remarkable professor who finally saw me—I not only overcame it, but became a passionate educator.
Now I use that experience to help guide my daughter, and hopefully, other parents too.
