Giggles on Two Wheels 🚲✨

Yesterday, September 9, 2025, marks a huge milestone for our girl—Lucy learned to really ride her bike! No more training wheels, just two wheels, balance, and a whole lot of giggles.

Truth be told, she probably could’ve done it sooner, but this summer’s brutal heat kept us from spending much time outside practicing. Still, God’s timing is always perfect, and today she took off with a confidence that was unmistakable. If you know Lucy, you know her “stamp” of pride is laughter. When she’s giggling, she’s got it. And today, she had it.

Pedals were off here, but not for long!

I’m so proud of how she listened and adjusted. At first, she was jerking her handlebars around, but when I reminded her to lean her body like she does on her scooter, everything clicked. Smooth, steady, and giggly.

Part of what made this learning curve so quick was her new Guardian bike (highly recommend!). Because she’s such a tall 6-year-old, we needed an upgrade. The Guardian has a lower center of gravity, which made balancing so much easier. We started by removing the pedals for a few days so she could glide. Watching her lift her feet and rest them on the frame, I knew she was ready. She even helped me attach the pedals herself before taking her maiden voyage.

I braced myself for a wipeout—after all, her guardian angel has worked overtime before, keeping her upright when gravity said otherwise. But today? She didn’t even need the help. She stayed vertical all on her own, pedaling forward with pure joy lighting up her face.

I jogged behind her, heart bursting with pride, soaking in this fun, fleeting stage where every week brings a new accomplishment. What a gift it is to witness these moments.

Here’s to many more miles ahead, powered by giggles and confidence. 🚲💛
